MX record and DNS record settings for Hosted Exchange Email
There are three possible ways to update your MX record or DNS record depending on how you wish to manage your DNS.
myhosting.com Managed DNS Record
If your domain name is already registered through another registrar but you want myhosting.com to handle the DNS record for you, then you will need to modify the Name Servers for your domain name record. To do this you will need to contact the company that you registered your domain with and request the change thesis writers. In many cases, a domain name management interface will allow you to submit these changes on your own.
Here is the information that they will need:
Primary Name Server
Primary Server Hostname: NS5.softcomca.com
Primary Server Net Address: 168.144.1.155
Secondary Name Server
Secondary Server Hostname: NS6.softcomca.com
Secondary Server Net Address: 168.144.68.6
We will create the zone record for your domain on our Name Servers. It can take between 24-48 hours for your domain name to be registered and propagated. During that time you can still log into your account Control Panel and set up individual users. For details on this, please refer to the account activation email you received for mail2web.com Business Exchange Hosting.
Modify your own Zone record
We have included the necessary records below should you wish to maintain your DNS record outside of myhosting.com and modify your own DNS record. You should remove the existing MX records and insert the following records:
Create the following A-Records:
ex7.yourdomain.com pointing to 168.144.1.185
AutoDiscover.yourdomain.com pointing to 168.144.1.186
Set your MX record as follows:
ex7.yourdomain.com with a priority/preference of 10
Make sure to replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name.
Here is a sample DNS record:
;*** Begin: Records for Hosted Exchange services
@ IN MX 10 ex7
ex7 IN A 168.144.1.185
AutoDiscover IN A 168.144.1.186
;*** End: Records for Hosted Exchange services
Increase the Serial Number of the zone and make sure the changes are propagated to all the secondary name servers.
myhosting.com Managed Sub-Domain
If the domain name you are using is a sub-domain and you want myhosting.com to host the sub-domain's DNS record for you, you will need to modify the parent domain's zone record on your primary name server. To do that, add following records in the parent zone on the primary name server:
;*** Begin: Records for Hosted Exchange services
your-sub-domain IN NS NS5.softcomca.com.
your-sub-domain IN NS NS6.softcomca.com.
;*** End: Records for Hosted Exchange services
Increase the SOA record of the zone and make sure the changes are propagated to all the secondary name servers.
We will create the zone record for your sub-domain on our Name Servers. It can take between 24-48 hours for your domain name to be registered and propagated. During that time you can still log into your account Control Panel and set up individual users.
